Our Big Questions café happens once a month, next on the 22nd June at 6pm – it’s a friendly, fun gathering where we first share a meal and get to know others around our table. Then, just after we get pudding, we hear a 15-20 minute presentation addressing one of the big questions facing our lives and community. We’re then invited to discuss a series of questions arising from the presentation around our tables, digging deeper. There’s opportunities to engage with the speaker as well.
Speaker: Victoria Turner, University of Edinburgh
Victoria is finishing her PhD in World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh, where she explored the mission of the Iona Community (1938) and the Council for World Mission (1795/1977). She has also edited Young, Woke and Christian: Words from a Missing Generation with SCM Press (2022), and has a follow up volume Emerging, Awake and Connected: Theologies of Justice from a New Generation planned for release in 2024. She is a member of the URC and is a Trustee for Churches Together in England.
Our food will be a full dinner from Magic Hat Café, a social enterprise not only tackling food waste in Newcastle, but creatively transforming that food into something delicious! It’s free, but we gratefully accept donations. Please RSVP at big questions café so we can best meet dietary needs!
